About Abode Lettings

Abode is one of South Yorkshire and North East Derbyshire leading Independent Lettings Agencies and offers a full range of services to the whole rental community. Whether this be a tenant or a landlord everyone has a role and place within the market.

Our aim is offer as wide a range of property services so whatever your involvement within the market we can help you, provide excellent service, and form a long-term client relationship.

Who are Abode?

Abode was founded by our Managing Partner Christopher Simpson back in September 2007, who has extensive experience and knowledge of the property market. Using this to build his own mixed portfolio of property.

Initially in those early years Chris worked alone until joined by Jeff Snape who worked as Lettings Manager and set up much of our internal systems. Jeff was shortly followed by Sarah Simpson who is also a Partner in the business who background is in both Insurance and Commercial banking, with both business and HR qualifications.

Sarah's role initially covered all aspects of the Agencies work prior to becoming more specialised. Our aim in recent years has been to grow the business and recruit more people with complementary skills to the existing management team.

Our final additional has been Louise Simpson, who has a Property Sales Background and Personnel Recruitment background. The aim being to support the current team whilst developing a Property Sales business under the Abode banner. Whilst recruiting and training more supporting staff.

What do we do?

In recent years the government has recognise serious issues within the rental market which has led to several changes in the laws governing this important sector of the economy. Much of this regulation mean Lettings Agents not only need to be qualified, they need to be licensed as well as carrying Professional Indemnity Insurance to operate at a professional level. Abode is fully compliant with these changes, and hence so are our landlords.

We are always striving to move forward with our management to maintain the essential good relations between Tenant and Landlord clients as our strap line state, ‘we more about people than property’ and this is essentially true. For tenants this means good quality housing, that’s safe, well maintained and from the landlords prospective they get a good return on investment. If a rental property is on price, well maintained and presented in the right location. Tenants are likely to want to rent and stay long-term minimising void periods and loss in yields.
